MAY

3 • Tenth annual Dr Pepper Fundraiser to benefit Comanche Creek Golf Course. 18-hole, four-person A, B, C, D Scramble. Sign up individually by 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Play begins at 1:30 p.m. Entry fee of $50 per person includes 1 mulligan and 1 meal ticket. For a complete 2008 schedule, call 325-347-5798.

10 • Fort Mason Day (Sesquicentennial Event): Ft. Hood Cavalry Parade on the Mason Square 10:00 am; Ft. Hood Cavalry performances at the City Park Rodeo Arena at 2:00 pm.


JUNE

1 • Eckert James River Bat Cave opens. Call 325-347-5970 for emergence times and hours of operations. The cave is considered one of the largest bat nurseries in the country. Between 2-4 million bats migrate from Central Mexico to find their summer home here in Mason County.

6 - 7 • Great Castell Kayak Race, on the Llano River. Starting at Llano River RV Park and ending in historic Castell. For more information, call 325/247-3027.

14 • Mason County Tour of Country School Houses 9:00- 2:00 (Sesquicentennial Event). For more information, call 325-347-6681.

JULY

12 • Mason County Roundup. Arts & Crafts show 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on the Courthouse lawn. Sesquicentennial parade, 10:00 a.m., around the Courthouse square. Great American Jackass Race (immediately follows the parade) around the square. Sesquicentennial Ranch Rodeo, 7:30 p.m., Ft. Mason Park Rodeo Arena. Dance under the stars, 9:00 p.m. at the Ft. Mason Park Dance Slab.

26 • Three (3) Person Tournament (One Day, 27 holes). Flighted by the lowest team member's handicap. 9 holes one low ball, 9 holes two low ball, and 9 holes select shot. Entry fee is $150 per team. Sign up by 10:00 a.m. Tournament starts at Noon.

9 • Mason County Museums Day (Sesquicentennial Event)

8 • Mason's Wild Game Dinner at the City Park at 6:00 pm. Raffles include an ATV Mule and a special antique gun in honor of Mason's Sesquicentennial.

29 • Light Up Our Town Christmas Festivities including the Tannenbaum Arts & Crafts Show.
